OUR HISTORY
About the School
Our school is named after St. Coen, a derivation of the old Irish name Caoimhín, meaning Kevin. The school is situated in an area formerly called Droim Coen or the Ridge of Kevin.
St. Coen's NS opened its doors in the 2016/2017 academic year when two schools, St. Joseph's GNS and St. Ernan's BNS, were amalgamated. The current building in Merrymeeting opened in December of 2016.
Today we are proud to serve the Rathnew community with 16 mainstream classrooms and 2 special classes for children with a diagnosis of autism, providing a safe and nurturing environment for children of all abilities.
